Cherax
Set up the Cherax mod menu for GTA V: create your Cherax account, redeem your key, inject, and fix common errors.
Requirements
Cherax works with both the Legacy and the Enhanced version of GTA V.
Disable BattlEye in the Rockstar launcher. On Steam or Epic, also add the launch argument -nobattleye.
Set up your account
Turn off your antivirus
Antivirus software often flags mod menus as false positives because they modify the game. Watch this short video on turning off Windows Defender. If you use another antivirus, turn that off too.
Create a Cherax account
Register on the Cherax website with your email and a password, then click the confirmation link Cherax sends you. No email? Use resend the confirmation email on the site.
If the website shows an error, use a VPN or contact us on Discord.
Redeem your key
Open Redeem Key in the left menu, paste the license key from your purchase receipt, and click Redeem. The key is now linked to your Cherax account.
Inject Cherax
Download the loader
Go to the loader section and click Download on the right.
Run the loader and inject
Run the .exe you downloaded. Follow any steps the launcher shows, select GTA V, and click Start Cherax.
Wait 15 to 20 seconds while the menu loads. GTA V starts automatically, and the launcher may close by itself once the injection works.
Play
Cherax is now running. You can use the menu in Story Mode or GTA Online.
Troubleshooting
Not injecting
- Make sure BattlEye is off (see Requirements).
- Exclude the Cherax app and its folder in Documents from Windows Defender. Third-party antivirus can cause problems even when turned off.
- Run Cherax as administrator.
- Delete the Cherax folder in Documents.
- Uninstall OneDrive; it can break permissions on the Documents folder.
Crashing on inject
- If the log says Failed to Find Patterns, contact support with the log.
- Turn off HDR in Windows display settings.
- Verify the GTA V game files.
- Delete the Cherax folder in Documents.
Curl error in the Cherax app
Use a VPN, and remove any third-party antivirus.
"GTA detected a fatal error"
This is usually caused by damaged game files rather than Cherax. Search for the error code it shows, for example ERR_GFX_STATE.
Subscribed scripts don't show up
Use a VPN.
Kicked by BattlEye without Cherax running
You probably joined a public lobby where another player was host, and BattlEye kicked you. The kick clears after 12 to 24 hours. Stick to lobbies where you, or another player with BattlEye off, are the host.
Cherax folder isn't in Documents
Look on your C: drive. Cherax falls back there when it can't write to Documents, often because of OneDrive.
