Ethereal

Ethereal is a mod menu for GTA V with recovery options, custom-modded vehicles, protection and trolling features. You install it through the Ethereal app.

Requirements

Redeem your key

Select your game version

Before you start the game, pick the right version in the Ethereal app:

1. Click the controller icon in the app.
2. The selected version is highlighted.
3. Make sure it matches the game you are about to launch: Legacy or Enhanced.

Launch and inject

Always inject while you are in Story Mode. A video walkthrough is also available.

GTA V Legacy with BattlEye disabled

1. In your game launcher (Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam or Epic Games Store), open the game settings and disable BattlEye.
2. Start GTA V and go into Story Mode.
3. The injector detects that BattlEye is disabled on its own. You don't need to change anything in the app.
4. Press F8 to open the menu.

GTA V Legacy with BattlEye enabled

1. In your game launcher, make sure BattlEye is enabled.
2. Start GTA V and go into Story Mode.
3. Open the Ethereal app and press Start.
4. Press F8 to open the menu.

GTA V Enhanced

Enhanced requires BattlEye enabled.

1. Disable Secure Boot in your BIOS/UEFI settings. See How to disable Secure Boot.
2. Disable your antivirus entirely (Windows Defender or any third-party antivirus).
3. Start GTA V and go into Story Mode.
4. Open the Ethereal app and press Start.
5. Press Insert to open the menu.

Troubleshooting

Several fixes refer to step 9 of the installation guide included in your .zip.

The app doesn't start after installation

Two usual causes:

1. The required Microsoft runtime files (.NET) are missing. The installation guide in your .zip links to the right downloads.
2. Step 9 of the installation guide wasn't done properly. Repeat it carefully.

If both are done and the app still won't start, open a verification-support ticket.

Crash on activation or after about 30 minutes

• Crash on activation: step 9 of the installation guide wasn't completed properly. Follow it exactly as described.
• Crash after about 30 minutes: your antivirus real-time protection is stepping in. Follow step 9 again, or use an antivirus that doesn't need an exclusion. Ethereal suggests trying the Kaspersky free trial.

The app opens but closes immediately when it updates

Usually corrupted .NET files, corrupted Windows system files, or the Terms of Service not being accepted. Do a clean reinstall:

1. Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find Ethereal Engine and uninstall it.
2. Reinstall the Microsoft dependencies:
   • Microsoft .NET 6.0 Runtime (usually the x64 runtime)
   • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 (web installer)
3. Run the original Ethereal installer again.
4. When the app opens, accept the Terms of Service.

"Preparing..." then an error that it took longer than expected

The app can't reach its servers in time, usually because of a network issue.

1. Check that step 9 of the installation guide is done correctly.
2. If you use a VPN, switch to another server location or turn the VPN off.
3. Pick a different application server in the Ethereal app, under the Home button.

"Ethereal Engine HWID mismatch" or "Ethereal HWID mismatch"

• Ethereal Engine HWID mismatch: only the Ethereal team can reset it. Open a verification-support ticket on Discord.
• Ethereal HWID mismatch: your hardware ID doesn't match your account. Log in on the Ethereal forum, scroll down your account page to HWID Reset and click it. You get a limited number of resets per month.

"EngineHwid missing, please contact admin."

Either you are running it on a virtual machine, which isn't possible, or your Windows installation is corrupted and can't provide an ID. In the second case, reset and do a fresh install of Windows.

My game is in a custom location

Point the app to your game manually:

1. In the Ethereal app, click the ? icon (the browse button).
2. Go to your GTA V folder and select PlayGTAV.exe (for both Legacy and Enhanced).
3. Launch GTA V and load into Story Mode, then go back to the app and press Start. The game must be in Story Mode before you press Start.

To reset the path, select another launcher, then select yours again.

"Invalid Request", "Error Post" or "LoginAPI not found"

Your PC's date and time aren't synced.

1. Go to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Date & time.
2. Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically, or click Sync now.
3. Close the Ethereal app completely and open it again.

"DLL files Missing"

This usually appears when you play with BattlEye off: your antivirus deleted a required DLL. To play with BattlEye off you need to download and install the FSL DLL file yourself. Disable your antivirus (or set an exception folder) first, then refresh your files in the Ethereal app settings (gear icon).
